disillusioned dreams

Donna Mackenzie isn’t looking for romance or to trust another man, but what she’s least ready to do is exactly what she must…

Donna Mackenzie has had a good life living in Seattle with her husband, Richard “Dick” Mackenzie. That is, until Dick’s gambling addiction comes to light, with devastating consequences for his business as an investment advisor and their family.

Deciding her life needs a fresh start, she quits her job, sells her house, and moves to Tucson, Arizona. She quickly makes friends with snowbird, Sharon Peterson, at a gourd crafting class and settles into her new routine.

What she has no interest in is becoming involved in another romantic relationship. She’s convinced she can never trust a man again. Her newly divorced neighbor at her condo complex, Gary Phillips, has also had bad luck with his marriage. His instant attraction to Donna has him rethinking his resolution to not become romantically involved. Persuading Donna to trust enough to love again may be the biggest challenge he’s ever had, but he’s determined it’s one he’ll win. Donna finds Gary’s overtures annoying. How can someone be so dense about taking a hint? As time passes, though, her resolve weakens and maybe, just maybe, she can take the risk.
